Global25 ancestry tools

These tools place you in a coordinate space built from thousands of modern and ancient reference populations, so you can see who you are closest to โ€” and how a Roma signature differs from the surrounding populations.

Important: your Global25 coordinates here are simulated, not real G25. We run the Eurogenes K47 calculator on your kit, then map its 47 components onto 25 G25 coordinates with a regression matrix (the method used by Nganasankhan / Allelocator). They are good enough for exploration and Roma-route work, but they are not a substitute for a real Global25 test. Results are labelled accordingly.

Fits your coordinates as a mixture of reference populations and reports the closest single populations and the best combinations of two, four, eight and sixteen.

When to use it: To see which modern populations you resemble, and how a two-way mix (for example South Asian + European) models your ancestry.

Reading the result:

  • The 1-population fit is the single closest population; higher-way fits mix several to reduce the distance.
  • Distances are relative โ€” lower is closer, but small differences are not meaningful.
Keep in mind:
  • Oracle output is descriptive, not a formal admixture estimate. Use the Admixture/Ethnicity page for component percentages.

When to use it: For a quick visual of where your ancestry sits geographically.

When to use it: When you want a component-level (rather than coordinate-level) comparison with specific countries.

The Second Parent Simulator estimates the coordinates a missing parent would have, given your coordinates and one known parent. The Grandparents Simulator goes a generation further.

When to use it: When one parent (or grandparent) is untested and you want to explore what their ancestry might have looked like.

Keep in mind:
  • These are mathematical estimates, not reconstructions from DNA โ€” use them for exploration only.

The Average Coordinates tool averages several coordinate sets (for example all members of one family line); Compare Coordinates measures the distance between any two sets.

When to use it: To build a family-line average or to compare your coordinates with a reference or another kit.

Where the Romani match lives

The Romani route and community match are on the Admixture / Ethnicity page. The route breakdown estimates how much of your ancestry is consistent with a South Asian source versus the host populations along the Roma migration path (Balkans, Iberia and so on), and the community match ranks you against curated Roma reference samples.

Attribution: Eurogenes Global25 and the calculators are by Davidski; the coordinate regression method follows Nganasankhan / Allelocator; mtDNA uses PhyloTree Build 17 (van Oven). Simulated G25 is clearly labelled as not real G25.
